My friend, Erin, had the most fun bachelorette party in Colorado in September 2018. About 6 ladies rendezvoused in Denver on a Friday night and then we all went our separate ways on Monday morning. It was the perfect amount of time to get out into nature and soak up the beautiful fall colors, mountain air, and the celebratory activities for Erin.
Affordable Lodging in Buena Vista, Colorado
A few us from Austin flew into Denver Airport and were picked up by one of the local Denver gals. We met up with a few other local friends and then we headed straight towards the smaller mountain town of Buena Vista, Colorado. It was almost a 3-hour long drive, but we stopped for dinner en route in Golden, Colorado. We had amazing Himalayan dishes at the Sherpa House Restaurant. We ordered a bunch of different things – samosas, pakoras, naan, and more – and shared with each other. After we finished, we hit the road to finish our trek to Buena Vista. We arrived in Buena Vista around 10pm and found our big VRBO to very cozy. Erin’s best friend had organized the whole trip and found a very spacious house on lots of property. It was perfect because it had a full kitchen and lots of beds. We enjoyed happy hours on the back deck just watching the fall color. Oh yeah, and it had a tippee! Check out the listing here, if you need an affordable option for a big crowd in Buena Vista. After unpacking the car and choosing beds, we were all pretty tired and called it a night. We had big plans the next day!
Hiking to Harvard Lakes
The next morning, we had a leisurely, filling, brunch of pancakes, eggs, bacon and more, as we debated which hike to do. Once we decided on the Harvard Lakes, we loaded up our packs with snacks and water and headed toward the trail head. It was a 5ish mile, out and back, hike with lots of elevation, yellow aspens, mountain streams and beautiful lakes at the top.
After our hike, we stopped by a goat dairy that we’d passed on the drive out to the trailhead. Jumpin’ Good Goats had lots of little goats and a little shop where you could fresh goat cheese and other products. The next day, Sunday, we went to a yoga class and then packed up our stuff and headed back to Denver. We spent Sunday night in Denver and went out for burgers at Hopdoddy and stayed with one of Erin’s friends who lives there. Our flight was early on Monday morning, so it was a short trip, but totally worth it to explore a new part of Colorado and have some fun girl time.
